Persistence pays!

A long time machine knitter, Carolyn recently shared a new sweater she finished. Isn't it beautiful?

She also shared that she struggled with the sweater, but was determined to conquer the challenge.
  • She started to use a "traditional" text-based sweater pattern, but gave up
  • Using a sewing t-shirt pattern with her Knit Leader | Charting Device was the pattern solution
  • The tuck stitch didn't cooperate at first and she had multiple starts with the fronts
  • She originally knit a stockinette band for the fronts, but wasn't happy with it and ended up hand knitting the front bands in ribbing
It had been a while since she knit a sweater for herself, but I'm sure you will agree that she "nailed it" (as the kids would say )

Did you notice that she "modernized" the sweater with no ribbing at the hems and cuffs?

Her story is a great reminder that every knitter (no matter how experienced) has their ups and downs, but with persistence, our machines allow us to be creative. Every project brings challenges that make us better knitters by building (and re-building) our skills and confidence.

The next time you hit a bump in the road, remember Carolyn's success. Your own success is right around the corner!

That is fantastic! I want to know how to do the hem and sleeves like she did without curling. They are gorgeous!

Wow that looks great. I'm trying to knit an English rib raglan sweater over 168 stitches and I have been having problems. Can anyone advise on Tensions and needle arrangement using Yeoman Soft Cotton 4 ply.
