Bulky Eight
"This is a very solid, mostly metal, relatively easy to use cute machine (once you figure out what the different controls do). Has 4 push buttons, so some automatic patterning is possible. It can do tuck, slip and plating. There seem to be quite a few for sale used at a decent price and because it was well made and mostly manual there isn’t much that could go wrong with it. It theoretically has a ribber available, but I have yet to see one for sale." ~elizabeth

This machine does have a ribber and I have one! The carriages do not connect and so the rows are made in an interesting way. The main bed carriage will knit across the main bed while also laying the yarn into the ribber needles. The. The ribber carriage is moved across to finish the stitch. I love using this ribber because it’s so different. It also has a quick reference guide on the carriage for different ribber techniques.
I also have the ribber for this machine. Machine/guide are all in Japanese. They knit like butter. Exceptionally easy to use and virtually trouble-free. Sometimes simple is better.
