To use DesignaKnit, this machine requires the BrotherLink 4 USB cable. Unlike other Brother machines, stitch patterns are downloaded to a cartridge, that can then be read by the knitting machine. The BrotherLink 4 also offers it's own software that allows other stitch formats than DesignaKnit files to be used with this electronic bulky machine.
